Skincare has, hands down, become one of my favorite forms of self-care. Whether it be my daily face skin routine or my weekly face mask, skincare has remained one of my favorite self-care forms to implement. I’m not sure if it’s because of consistency or that I feel completely relaxed as I give my skin love and care. But the daily routine of basking in my skincare has become immensely therapeutic.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a yoga girl and love having my moments of meditation or cooking to fall back on as another destresser, but skincare gives me that moment of freedom every day, no matter what. My skincare routine allows me to decompress and bring beauty and life to my body is immensely comforting and essential to my self-care routine.

One of my favorite things to include in the daily routine that gives me a sense of extra care is implementing a revitalizing facial massage. To do this, I usually apply my favorite moisturizer, which is currently, The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. After this for 20 seconds, I rub in my rosehip oil, which helps me relax and feel especially refreshed and recharged.

In addition to face massages, I also love implementing a weekly face mask into my routine. Face masks force me to slow down slightly and sit still to rest to let the masks properly dry and penetrate the skin. I usually opt-in for a restoring and/or hydrating mask for the evening and choose an oil-absorbing and glowy mask for the morning!

The final and most vital portion of maintaining my favorite form of self-care is to be consistent in my daily routine. Consistency is the main reason I love to practice skincare, and the beauty of promoting healthy skin and giving myself a sense of relaxation makes the self-care practice worthwhile.

The goal of skincare may be to improve the way my skin looks, but there’s no denying that the routine of caring for skin can be overwhelmingly meditative and relaxing.
